The mineral sillimanite falls into the same gemstone family as kyanite and andalusite. Most often found as a cat's eye, opaque stone, it occasionally forms as a richly colored gem while still retaining the trademark cat's eye phenomenon. Sillimanite is known for it's beautiful refraction, and this stone is no exception to that rule, seeming to shine with a moonlike aura.
